Community Rules

Community Rules & Terms of Use

What is Talk Trenchless? Talk Trenchless is an online community that encourages members to come prepared to share successes, challenges, provide constructive feedback, bring questions, and provide perspective in all manners related to trenchless technology. Come here first to seek the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation. To ensure the best possible experience for all our members, we have established some rules for participation. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules. Correspondence with NASTT staff liaisons should be handled via private email or the Contact Us link on this site and not the discussion forum.

By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and guidelines below.

  • Stay on Topic.  Talk Trenchless is a place to discuss trenchless technologies, its related disciplines, professional development and education. When citing sources, use only technically reputable sources. All postings should intend to yield fruitful discussions.

  • Don't post commercial messages. This includes, but is not limited to, job openings/opportunities, company acquisitions, and educational programs or events not affiliated with the NASTT. Discussion of fees is prohibited. If you’ve found a product or service helpful, please share your experience with the group in a respectful way or contact people directly with product and service information. Marketing or sales-related content will be removed.

    • Submit press releases and announcements to Jenna Hale, Marketing Manager at jhale@nastt.org for inclusion in NASTT communications including E-News and social media. Submission is not a guarantee of placement.

  • Be honest, be yourself. The community is intended for the helpful exchange of information between members. False, inaccurate, or otherwise misleading information is not helpful. Please be sincere in your community participation by only contributing content you know is accurate. Be mindful to respect the "closed" environment of all NASTT online communities and do not forward messages to people who are not members of the community.

  • Submit only your own, original content. Help us maintain the community's integrity and observe the intellectual property rights of others by only submitting content you have personally written or else used with permission and properly attributed. The community should not be used to distribute unauthorized copies of any copyrighted material. See the legal notes below.

    • When posting items in our collaborative environment, please indicate if the item is not available for reuse.  It’s also advisable to contact the owner of any material if you would like to reuse it.

    • Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate communities.  Do not spam several lists or libraries with the same message. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response.

  • Keep it clean, keep it friendly. Every post should make a positive contribution and not create contention. The community is open to all points of view on the intended topics; mature, polite debate is encouraged. Attacks or cyber-bullying will not be tolerated. Contradictory opinions are of course welcomed, but should always be thoughtful and respectful, rather than emotional, impulsive or anger-driven (you’d be surprised, it happens). All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything that you wouldn’t want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.

  • Make your subject line concise, accurate and specific. This makes it easier for people to respond appropriately and to search the archives by subject. Remember your readers and try to follow standard email etiquette.  Use the "Reply to Sender" link to the left of every message to send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals-not to the entire list.

  • Use caution when discussing products.  Information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.

  • Use the right channels for complaints and inquiries. NASTT online communities are not the appropriate platforms to resolve personal issues or start disputes against any member or organization. Posts of this nature will be removed. Administrative messages or tasks, such as “remove me from the list,” or "change my email" can be addressed by changing your settings, removing yourself from a list or updating your profile. Correspondence with NASTT staff liaisons should be handled via private email or the Contact Us link on this site.

  • Help look after your community. All messages must add to the body of knowledge. We reserve the right to reject any message for any reason. There is a permanent record of your posts across all online community platforms. Participants who suspect that unauthorized or illegal activity is occurring or if you notice content within the community that does not abide by these guidelines or the terms of use in any NASTT community or discussion, please report it to membership@nastt.org.

  • Disclaimer: The North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by others. NASTT disclaims all warranties with regard to information posted on this site, whether posted by NASTT or any third party.  This disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness.  In no event shall NASTT, or our agents, be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site.

Legal Notes

Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that he or she owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the posting party grants NASTT and users of this site the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.

Messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade.  Messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.

NASTT does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and does not on its own undertake editorial control of postings.  However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of NASTT, we will take all appropriate action.

NASTT reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these rules.
